Webinar "eVALUATE a MOOC?! Dealing with online credentials – Tools and best practices" held on 10 November 2020 at 10:00-11:30 CET in virtual modality

In recent years new forms of online learning, such as MOOCs, have mushroomed and continue to do so. The outcomes of these ‘alternative’ learning experiences are not always captured within current recognition practice, that focuses primarily on assessing qualifications obtained through formal/traditional education.

How do you evaluate this type of learning? To answer this, the session:

• Provides an overview of the emergence of MOOCs, microcredentials, etc in the education landscape;

• Introduces a methodology how to evaluate online learning

• Includes substantial time for group work focused on evaluating online learning, based on pre-set questions and discussion of outcomes

The session will be based on the outcomes of the Erasmus+ NARIC e-Valuate project, which developed three instruments to help the recognition of online learning:

  • a practitioner guide for ENIC-NARICs
  • a paper for MOOC providers
  • a tool to help student select MOOCs

Learning outcomes

  • Gained a better understanding of how to recognize these learning units and credentials

  • Practiced how to recognize these experiences
